The new community that is being developed in the Convention District will house more than 500 families, and the further development of some 563 residential units is also being planned.
In August 2006, the construction of the first residential units in the Convention District Plaza CCD began. At the end of 2006, the Authority began the bidding process to develop a second residential project that will consist of approximately 150 units.
The first residential project in the Convention District consists of 100 housing units: 50,000 square feet of commercial space on the first floor along the Paseo, connecting the new Puerto Rico Convention Center to the San Juan Bay and bordering on the park and the Convention District’s fountains.
This commercial space will house diverse food vendors and entertainment venues to complement and support the Convention Disrtrict.
This project represents a private investment of approximately $60 million and will create some 780 jobs during its construction phase. This residential complex, which will also have close to 20,000 square feet of office space on the second floor and 380 parking lots.
