This new park is part of the development made by the Convention Center District Authority, to facilitate green areas and open spaces within the city where Puerto Rican families can go and enjoy themselves.
The goal of the Convention Center District Authority, is to provide the city and its residents with places and infrastructure that facilitate balanced productivity and vibrant recreation; attend to the needs of diverse generations, mostly children, youngsters and the elderly; facilitate collaboration between the public and private sectors; and mend the unbalance between public and natural open spaces
Facts
• 13 acres of attractive urban space are being developed in the District, in which Puerto Rican families, as well as tourists, can go and enjoy themselves in the center of the capital city.
• The principal theme for its design is water, a reflection of Puerto Rico being a Caribbean island. A system of lagoons and their surrounding space will form the heart of the District.
• In its totality, the Paseo de las Fuentes District Park will be a generous space, full of different environments that enrich the urban life of the sector. • The main fountain system will be in front of the Convention Center. This fountain will border the Ficus Café, a sidewalk café restaurant developed as part of the amenities of the urban park.
• The water in this lagoon will be fresh, filtrated and chlorinated to ensure its quality. Its fountains will spout water streams according to the sound of music.
• The Urban Walkway will serve as the principal pedestrian connector between the Convention Center and the Condado and/or Puerta de Tierra entrance. It will have areas for future restaurants and sidewalk cafés for the adjacent private developments, temporary artisan exhibits, and open spaces for walking under the shade of trees.
