Puerto Rico Convention Center wins Prime Site Award on first year of operations

The Puerto Rico Convention Center won the coveted Prime Site Award of
Excellence, one of 64 sites selected from the U.S. and Canada.

Voted on by meeting planners and other industry members and awarded by Facilities Media Group, publishers of Facilities and Destinations Magazine, the PrimeSite Award is an annual recognition of special achievement.

“Winning the Prime Site Award is particularly fulfilling for the SMG and Puerto Rico Convention District Authority team because facilities must be nominated by users in order to be considered for these awards,” said Thom Connors, Senior Regional Vice-President of SMG. “To be selected within the first year of operations is acknowledging
the extraordinary effort made by the Puerto Rico Convention team to create a world class operation during what essentially was its start-up phase.

” SMG manages and operates 24 of the awardees making it once again the leading operating company in the industry. “Every year, SMG venues consistently win more Prime Site Awards than those of any single facility management company, another piece of evidence indicating the professionalism, experience and effectiveness of this firm,”according to the 2006 Directory of Facilities and Destinations.

“We are honored that the two facilities under the Puerto Rico Convention District Authority have received accolades from the worldwide industry within its first year of operations. The Puerto Rico Convention Center follows in the tradition set by the Puerto Rico Coliseum José Miguel Agrelot.

In 2005 the Coliseo of Puerto Rico was selected #1 International Large Venue of the Year by the industry publication Pollstar.
