The Puerto Rico Convention Center District will house 1,770 new hotel rooms in order to collaborate with the Tourism Company’s objective of increasing the hotel room inventory of the Island. The development of these new hotel rooms, a short distance from the new Convention Center, contributes in making this new facility more competitive, attracting more visitors, activities, and international events to our capital city.
In August 2006, the construction of the District’s first hotel, the headquarter hotel of the Convention Center, began: The Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Hotel.
The Puerto Rico Convention Center District Authority select the second hotel project for the Convention Center District, will have 300 rooms by the flag of the Courtyard by Marriott.

The construction of the first Puerto Rico Convention District Hotel and the headquarter hotel of the Convention Center is fundamental to support the Center’s activities and to make it more competitive, in order to increase the Island’s appeal as a tourist hub. The development of new hotel rooms close to the Convention Center, particularly in the Convention District, is essential to guarantee the success and maximum leverage of the Convention Center.
The Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Hotel will consist of 500 rooms, approximately 117,000 sq. ft. of commercial space for shops, cafes and entertainment venues, activities and meeting rooms, casino, and some 400 parking lots.
